Solemn Thought

thecollectThe last Sunday we were in England, Kevin and I decided to go on a walk through the countryside. We had brought our communion supplies with us and planned to seek out a perfect spot to share our communion. When we entered the tiny hamlet we made our way to the church. We found it empty but felt warmly welcomed by the glow of the lights and the smell of fresh flowers.

We sat on the first pew and found a bible sitting there. We also found a book that had prayers and bible verses sorted by subject. We read and prayed and shared our communion together. I snapped this picture as the words especially touched me.

Almighty God, unto whom all hearts be open, all desires known and from whom no secrets are hid; Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love thee, and worthily magnify thy Holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Today, as we looked to Him, I thought about his quiet memory and found it, to reread and felt it on my heart to share with you.

Think if we earnestly prayed this prayer each day. You, your neighbor, the bank teller, your boss, your children, the mailman, the teacher, your husband, your friends, the strangers walking down the street, the leaders of our country and other countries, our enemies.

Solemn thought.

As we find ourselves seeking peace in this difficult time, it starts here, within us.

  1. Well said indeed. Bless you for sharing this with us. I am going to make this my daily goal. Praise God through through whom all blessings flow.
