My friend says my poor wing is clipped. I agree. I feel like one of those ugly Muscovy ducks at the park with her wing all sprayed out feathers poking out in all directions unable to fold her wing in neatly, so she walks around in circles hissing at everyone. Okay, maybe I’m not hissing, at least not yet. Maybe when I’m forced out of my flannel Christmas PJ’s and out of the recliner then I will hiss and chase people around.
I had shoulder surgery last Friday. On my right shoulder and I’m right handed. 5 weeks and I will be back to full range, better than normal. One week down. I lined up the books to read, the magazines to look at, and the videos to watch. I haven’t done any of that. I have napped a lot.
Winter naps are the best. We have had really great weather for napping too.
Fog
Rain
Sweet Chad, before he left for school the day I had surgery, set up the fireplace for a fire. Lots of wood brought in, kindling, and fire starters all laid out. I didn’t have one for a few days but when I did it was pure joy. I slept in front of the fire. Taby, Jack and I slept for hours. Such love.
Friends and family have brought food over this week. Wonderful home cooked meals that have kept everyone well fed and happy. As Chad dug into dinner he told me to milk my shoulder for as long as I could to keep the food coming. This is Chad thru and thru. Last night Kevin’s mom brought food and I’m sure she could hear Chad’s stomach from her house. He had a plate before and after band practice!
Janine cooked Chad’s favorite. A meal we had while bareboat sailing years ago. Chad is getting spoiled.
Taby has been my constant companion. Sleeping sometimes right on my arm, always in my lap. Sweet company.
Kevin has been the cheerleader, the encourager, but not so good with long hair. He has short curly hair so I have to cut him some slack, he has never had to fix anyone’s hair including his own. I guess it’s good we had boys.
I’ve enjoyed reading blogs and looking at pinterest, and playing words with friends and texting friends and instagram, I’ve watched a few HGTV shows. Thinking about what I’m going to make in a few weeks. So I have enjoyed the quiet house and quiet schedule and looking forward to a quiet shoulder.
I picked out some winter favorites on Etsy. Hope you stay warm and enjoy the winter where you are. I’m in front of the fire in my flannel PJs and a cup of coffee and it’s 4 pm. It’s not normal but it keeps me from hissing.
