I always have the intention of doing crafty things for Christmas but it soon falls to the side as things squeeze away that time. This year I did a little better than years past.
Mom’s bible study group loves to come to my house and get crafty. This year they came over in November to make ornaments from old tart tins. I purchased the supplies from my favorite supply shops on etsy (links below) and started gathering supplies from my craft room days ahead of our party.
I put out all the supplies a few days ahead and having the supplies all ready, I found it easy to sit down and whip out a few ornaments for a handmade ornament exchange I am in. It’s all about having the supplies!!!!
I found these adorable plastic frozen charlotte dolls that became the inspiration for these ornaments. I hammered out the smallest tart tins to be more flat and then used the sweetest crepe paper to make medallions as the background. These were super easy and fun to make. Tinsel, ribbons, rhinestones and lace.
And gift wrapping is half the gift!
I also found some supplies at Michael’s. It doesn’t take much. Here’s a few from the Bible Study Group.
Another quick little ornament to make, I was trying to embellish my little boxes and made a little scene on a milk carton lid. Using wooden monopoly houses from an old game, little trees and some wooden dogs I picked up at TJ Maxx of all places. I had some Moose that would be better but the bible study group loved them too and they are all gone. I made the little scene and glued to a tiny clothes pin. Cute touch to a small package.
Several years ago a friend gave me this star ornament. I keep it out year around and had more than one time thought, I need to learn how to make these. The week I was home sick, I found a source of how to make them and made a few. Very easy to do and only takes old papers and twine and some things for the center piece. I used old milk lids, or a button.
Here is a link to learn to make them. Paper Star Ornaments They are quick to make.
Hoping to inspire you to try to put some homemade into your Holiday.
Merry Christmas.
