The boys are out of school. That marks the official start of summer in our house. But the signs have been showing up for weeks now… delicate queen ann’s lace swaying in the breeze, daylight lasting longer and longer still, rows and rows of tempting flowers at the nursery, wearing sandals days in a row and a box turtle crossing the road. (just Monday)
There is beauty everywhere this time of the year. It’s so easy to like summer now. Not so much come August. We are through with it by then.
Summer is not my favorite season but like every season I’m glad when it’s here. I’m glad for the change. I am excited for what it has to bring and look forward to it’s offerings and the memories it holds for me.
How many frogs have I caught in the summers of my youth! Well, I couldn’t catch this one. I tried. I wanted some close up pictures but he had other plans and they involved him in the spice bush. But I did enjoy his company during the rain showers for a spell.
This is a summer sky. You can just see it.
Summer is full of color. I’m loving my peony plants that are just beautiful right now. My favorite is full of blooms. I love to walk in the yard and see what new is blooming. I made this arrangement a few weeks ago with flowers that were planted by the lady who lived on our property before us. We are so lucky to have inherited the beauty she labored hard over. It is in her honor. She is passed but I think of her often when I walk among the flowers.
Summer is beautiful flowers, fresh garden vegetables, delicious fruits, sleeping late, staying up late, going to the river, sitting on the porch, grilling out, eating late, no schedules, forgetting the date, or the day, kitchen mom at church camp, kids & friends in and out always hungry, making jelly and jam, picking blackberries, vacation, fireworks… fun, less stress, less worries, less must do’s.
What does summer mean to you?
My favorite find Friday is full of fun colors and things that made me happy. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
